E-Waste Recycling Challenge: Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
1.1 The challenge is open to all local schools, businesses, and organizations within the designated collection area of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
1.2 Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
1.3 All participants must register by 14th September 2024 to be eligible for the competition.
2. Registration
2.1 Participants must provide accurate and complete information during the registration process.
2.2 By registering, participants agree to these Terms and Conditions.
3. Collection and Recycling
3.1 Participants are responsible for gathering their own e-waste.
3.2 All e-waste collected must be delivered to our facility or scheduled for pickup by 14th October 2024.
3.3 Only e-waste collected during the challenge period will be considered for the competition.
4. E-Waste Criteria
4.1 E-waste includes all electronic devices such as computers, laptops, phones, tablets, household appliances, and other electronic equipment. To view a list of acceptable e-waste items please click here.
4.2 The e-waste must be free of hazardous materials that are not covered under general e-waste categories, such as industrial waste.
5. Prize Details
5.1 The entity that collects the most e-waste by weight will be declared the winner.
5.2 The winning entity may choose between a monetary prize of R20,000 or a donation of refurbished IT equipment to the same value.
5.3 The prize must be used for the benefit of the winning school/business or a charity of their choice. The decision on prize allocation must be communicated by 20th October 2024.
5.4 Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for other benefits. However should the winning entity not require the prize, they may nominate a charity or school of their choosing to accept the prize on their behalf. EC E-Waste Management (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to vet and award at their own discretion, as well as determine what date the prize will be granted.
6. Announcement and Recognition
6.1 The winner will be announced on 18th October 2024 via our mailing list, social media platforms, and potentially through media coverage.
6.2 By participating, participants agree to the use of their name, logo, and collected e-waste amounts for promotional purposes related to the challenge.
7. Liability
7.1 Participants are responsible for ensuring that the e-waste they collect and deliver is safe and free from hazards.
7.2 The organizers shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from participation in the challenge.
8. Disqualification
8.1 Any participant found to be in breach of these Terms and Conditions or providing false information may be disqualified from the challenge.
8.2 The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant at their discretion.
8.3 No staff related to EC E-Waste Management (Pty) Ltd, may participate. No family or affiliates of EC E-Waste Management (Pty) Ltd, may participate.
9. Changes to the Terms and Conditions
9.1 The organizers reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
9.2 Any changes will be communicated to participants promptly.
